First News interviews Justin Bieber

First News interviews Justin Bieber

Super star teenager Justin Bieber caused hysteria in London when he attended the premiere of Justin Bieber Never Say Never, sponsored by Sky 3D. He spoke to The Family Show’s Craig Stevens and First News about his first ever movie.

Tell us about the movie. How did the film come about?

I don’t really know how it came about but I know that when we started making it I was really uncomfortable with the cameras all in my face. I got used to it after a while and after I got to know the director, Jon Chut. The process of the film was so cool because you get to see where I come from and the journey to perform at Madison Square Garden. I’m really glad that it turned out so well – Jon did an amazing job.

You say it was uncomfortable having the cameras in your face but is your life not in front of a camera anyway?

Not really, I mean when I’m just doing regular stuff I don’t have a camera in my face. I just had a camera in my face for when we were making the movie. They were there every day. People are going to be able to see me in everyday life. It takes the audience back to my hometown and lets them see my friends and my grandparents. It’s really cool.

In the film you threaten to shave your famous hair off!

Yeah, I was just kidding though. I don’t know if I’d shave it, but I like changing it up a little bit, here and there.

Your fans are crazy. How do you cope with that everywhere you go?

It’s not everywhere I go. It’s not like I walk outside and I have thousands of girls waiting for me. It’s just if I have an event or something like that, or if I go to a signing, that’s when it gets crazy. Everyone thinks I walk outside and automatically there are 30,000 people outside… it’s not like that.

What’s the craziest thing a fan has done?

I’ve had a girl steal my hat! But the craziest thing is probably getting tattoos saying Never Say Never and stuff like that. My fans are the greatest – they are so supportive and that’s what I really like about it.

There are some pretty famous people in your film. Are they all in your phonebook now?

Me and Jaden Smith are really close, he’s like one of my good friends. Once you kind of live in that lifestyle, it’s not weird at all. It doesn’t seem different, it just seems like I’m just hanging out with my friend and not that my friend’s dad is Will Smith.

The movie is in 3D. What was it like being filmed in 3D?

It was great, yeah. It was really cool to have the 3D aspects in the film; like me literally reaching out to the fans. But it was really kind of weird at first to see myself in 3D.

In the film you say that you don’t want to miss out on a childhood – is that something that worries you?

I just remember to keep family first, keep God first and you know, I’ll just stay on the right path.

Do you still get grounded by your mum?

Umm, yeah I do.

You’ve said the film is about a dream. What is the dream?

It’s not about the Justin Bieber dream, it’s about dreams in general and showing people that you need dedication and motivation and you need determination. Without those three things, sure, you can have gifts and talents and goals but you have to work yourself, you have to go for it and you need to set those goals and work hard at it or else you won’t be successful.

What is it you think fans will take from this film?

Hopefully they’ll get to see that anything is possible – whether you want to be a doctor or a lawyer or a dancer or whatever you want to do. As long as you stay focused, never say never and always follow your dreams, then anything is possible. That’s what I want them to see – that this is a dream and dreams do come true.

This will be okay, but I'm not a huge fan of him. But it's ok. I'm no hater of Justin. Everyone gets the same respect as everyone else.

I don't really like Justin Bieber or his music, I find him quite overrated and I see his face on all these teen magazines. I've never really understood celebrity crushes...they can't love you back.
