First News interviews Bridgit Mendler
Disney Channel’s Bridgit Mendler spills some on-set secrets about the new series of Good Luck Charlie…
Hi Bridgit! What can you tell us about the second series of Good Luck Charlie?
Series two has been a lot of fun to film. We’re having the time of our lives on the show! All of the characters are growing up this series, especially little Mia, who plays our baby sister Charlie in the show. It’s really cool to see her learning to talk more. She’s so cute. She’s always trying to chat to us with her baby talk.
What does your character, Teddy, get up to?
This series, Teddy spends a lot of time trying to get jobs. She works for a while at one place just to try and keep her mobile phone – and then she decides she wants to work some more to save up and buy a car. Her responsibilities are definitely growing and maturing. She’s realising that she has to work to get the things she wants in life.
What else can you tell us about Teddy’s adventures in this series?
There’s a little romance in the air for Teddy in the second series! You’ll have to tune in to see how that pans out, but that was a lot of fun to work on.
What’s been your favourite episode of the new series so far?
Ooh, that’s a good question! There’s a lot of fun stuff happening in the second series, but one episode that definitely stands out for me is where we have a ‘Battle of the Bands’ on the show.
What makes this episode so special?
It was really great to shoot because all of my friends came on set for that episode. It was such a blast to make music with my friends! Plus, if you look closely, you’ll be able to spot some familiar guests in the bands for that episode, too! I’m not going to give away anything right now, but look closely and you’ll spot some recognisable cast faces.
What’s life like on set this series?
We are still having tonnes of fun together. We’ve grown to be like a family on the set, which is really nice. It’s also great because we know how each other works and we know what we’re doing, so we get through everything much quicker than before. We’re all enjoying the way that our characters are developing. It’s fun to see them grow!
What does the cast get up to when the cameras stop rolling?
There’s a lot of singing and dancing on the set of Good Luck Charlie. There’s also a lot of goofing off and messing about! We even made up a little song that we all sing about ‘locking up’ on set. It’s really funny. When the crew wants everyone to be quiet on set, they will always say: “Lock it up, guys!” They usually say it when we’re goofing off, but they want us to settle down and concentrate on filming – but we decided to make a song about it.
How does the song go?
It’s simple, but effective: (sings) “Lock it up, lock, lock it up…” There are different parts to it, but it was always a winner on set. It brings a smile to my face just thinking about it!
What other songs do you sing on set? Anything from your film Lemonade Mouth?
We sing everything and anything! I love the songs from Lemonade Mouth, but I don’t think I’ve sung any of them on the set of Good Luck Charlie.
Are you going to tour with Lemonade Mouth?
I would love to do a tour with the songs from Lemonade Mouth! That would be really fun, but we don’t know what’s going to happen yet. We’re keeping our fingers crossed. Hopefully it will happen.
There have been loads of rumours of a movie sequel. What would you like to see happen in Lemonade Mouth 2?
I think there are tonnes of places we can go with a sequel. The first movie was about the band starting out and finding their legs. For a sequel, I think it would be fun to see where they head next. Could it be global domination? We’ll have to wait and see…
Check out the Good Luck Charlie Disney Channel Original Movie at 6pm on 17 December on Disney Channel. Plus series two of Good Luck Charlie.
