First News interviews... Alvin!
In a world exclusive, Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks talks to First News about getting in trouble, what happens when you’re ‘Chipwrecked’ and his new-found survival skills.
In your new film, Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, you and the gang go on a cruise ship. What was that like, and did any of you feel seasick?
It was just pretty cool having a vacation and some time off from being a global superstar. You know, it can be pretty exhausting being universally adored and sometimes you just need some time for R&R (rest and relaxation). The cruise ship was AWESOME. Everything you need is in one place and you never run out of things to do. You can cause chaos at the casino, havoc by the hammocks and pandemonium by the pool; endless opportunities for fun. As for being seasick… don’t be silly, I’m hard as nails, a true survivor.
You end up ‘Chipwrecked’! Was it scary? And who was the biggest scaredy-cat?
Now you gotta understand the difference with being ‘shipwrecked’ and ‘Chipwrecked’ is that a certain cool, calm and collected Chipmunk is involved. That’s me, in case you didn’t guess! Of course I wasn’t scared, not even for a second (Simon and Theodore glare at Alvin and shake their heads). What? I wasn’t! Well, maybe for ONE second, but no way was I a scaredy-cat.
Which of the Chipmunks or Chipettes has the best survival skills?
Do I really need to answer that? Me, of course! I discovered a heap of talents, including shelter construction, meerkat wrestling and raft building. I basically kept us alive out there (another glaring look from Simon and Theodore). Okay, well, it wasn’t ONLY me that uncovered some hidden talents. Brittany surprised us all and was actually pretty handy around the place, but we shouldn’t go on about that as it will just give her a big head.
What advice would you give to any First News readers who end up shipwrecked on a desert island?
Not to panic and stay cool. Think like a Munk and you’ll be fine.
The Chipmunks and the Chipettes have covered lots of great songs, but which were your favourites and are there any songs you’d still like to cover?
Anything that we can seriously rock out to! We had a lot of fun making our Jingle Bells track for Christmas and we love it when our fans can join in and sing along with us, so this is perfect as everyone knows the words already. There are so many songs we’d love to still do that we are planning another album soon, so you better keep your ears out.
What is the worst trouble you have ever got into? And do you ever regret the things you do?
Hmmm, that’s a toughie. How long is this interview? I’d probably need to get back to you on that because the list is pretty long. But I never mean to cause trouble, trouble just seems to find me! The only thing I regret is making Dave worry about us, but secretly I think he enjoys me keeping him on his toes. And how much would he miss shouting “Allllviiiiinnnnn”?!
You’ve made three films now and are hugely famous, so what advice would you give to fans who want to follow in your footsteps?
Just be yourself and have fun. If you are anything like me, then adoring fans will just fall at your feet.
Christmas is coming, so what will you be buying the others for Christmas?
I have a stack of signed photos of myself, so I was thinking of giving them a framed copy each. What do you think? Only messing; I wouldn’t spoil them with one each, I’ll give them one to share. Only kidding; I have some cool surprises up my sleeve but I don’t want to give anything away.
Why should First News readers go and see Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked this Christmas?
For anyone who wants to laugh, cry, sing and dance then Chipwrecked is the one to watch, so go and check it out!
Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked is in cinemas now. Check out the trailer below.
