First News interviews a real-life ghost hunter!
First News interviewed Jack Strange, age 15, - half of the ghost hunting duo Jack and Laura from jack and laura's Ghost Series. Read on below...
Tell us a bit about your ghost hunting - what is it you do?
We find supposedly haunted locations then decide whether or not it deserves an investigation. When we're there, we talk about the history, and then investigate - asking if anyone is there, if we hear a sound we look for it, etc.
We enjoy it and we're always looking for new locations and equipment to make our seres interesting and better.
How did you get started?
I've always wanted to do investigations, and see what really is out there. I knew Laura wanted to do the same, but I wasn't sure if she wanted to do a actual ghost series.
When she said yes, we were eager to start straight away, and started discussing series one, our locations, how many, etc.
We discussed about that so much, we forgot to talk about the name of the show! At the moment, its 'Jack and Laura's Ghost Series', but we're hoping to get a proper name by series two!
What is the strangest thing you have ever seen?
We've seen, heard, felt and experienced a lot while doing this series, and we've only done three episodes so far.
Laura saw a flash of light once in one room at a location, and when we went to investigate, there was a massive bang behind us. We kept looking and the noises were moving, so that was strange.
We've both been on ghost tours, and heard whistling, felt cold spots and felt dizzy.
In Episode 2, we heard lots of noises - a cat miaowing inside, a groan and strange knocks. Then when we edited our films we saw a ghostly hand trail the railings, ghostly faces, lights and doors moving and a boy bouncing a ball. The strange thing with the boy is that I walked right to him and but saw nothing until I looked at the film footage from the day.
Also, in Episode 3, we both saw a glowing figure walking through the trees and then dissapearing through a fence.
Was it easy setting up your own YouTube channel?
It was easy, yes, but of course we needed promotion - people to see it, talk about it, etc.
That was the hard bit, getting people to watch, spread the word and help promote us. Now, though, our Twitter, website and YouTube has soared up since being featured on First News.
What equipment do you use?
We have been expanding our equipment a lot recently, ready to make our episodes much better. We use cameras, of course, and we also use walkie talkies for when we split up. They have quite a good range, too, so they are very useful. We've just got compasses, because when a cold spot is detected, the dial will spin around, and we'll be using them in Episode 4. Along with a dowsing crystal, dowsing rods and soon we're getting EVP recorders (devices which can record ghostly activity).
Do you ever get scared?
I wouldn't say we've felt scared. We feel a mixture of emotions: nerves, and excitement, really.
Ghost hunting is fun, scary, exciting and serious.
I don't recommend anyone to go out alone and try it, and I would wait until you're about 14-15 to do Ghost Hunting.
Not all ghosts are nice, there are some who can be quite evil - if you're going to go ghost hunting, always be careful.
Does it ever feel dangerous?
Nope, we never feel like we are in danger. Most of the time we feel welcomed, and other times we feel like we shouldn't be there, a bit anxious. But no presence or energy has ever made us feel like we are in danger. If you ever feel like you are in danger, you should always turn back. Never go alone, always be with a partner or group.
How do you make sure you stay safe?
Before we go, we always make sure our phones are fully charged, and always make sure our parents know where we're going and when we will be back.
We make sure we know the area first, where the exits are, that there are no health hazards, that kind of thing.
I wouldn't advise anyone below 14 or 15 to ghost hunting, as it can be scary and your mind can play tricks.
Never go alone, and if its dark out and you are not with anyone, don't go. Especially if you want to go to a woods, theres not just ghosts there, you need to be careful of people, too.
Which ghost would you most like to see?
We'd both like to see any ghost at all. Despite thinking we've seen them, we can never be sure.

The existence of ghosts is a philosophical debate which will probably never be resolved.
