First News chat to Jedward about their brand new show
What happens when you send Jedward off to visit historic sites in the UK, then act as tour guides? Absolute mayhem! Edward (with a bit of help from John in the background) tells us all about their new TV show, Jedward’s Big Adventure.
What can we expect from Jedward’s Big Adventure?
Jedward’s Big Adventure is the ultimate adventure. Usually when people go on adventures, they’re like: “OMG, we’re on an adventure!” But there’s two of us this time and we shared the experience together. When we arrived at the towns, everyone was like: “OMG, OMG, Jedward’s in town!” The whole town, like, shut down. We had, like, fans outside our hotels. It’s like we went on a world tour of the UK.
You visited so many places in the UK. Did you pick up loads of interesting facts?
Yes, like on the Jurassic Coast, the strongest mammal… oh, what was it called, John? Oh… umm… seven people were beheaded at the Tower of London. We know that one!
You’re very recognisable. How did you manage to convince the guests that you were just normal tour guides?
Usually you have some famous people and no-one knows who they are, but everyone knew who we were so it was really, really cool.
What was your favourite place?
Our favourite place would have to be… what are we going to say, John? The Jurassic Coast in Dorset, because we got to, like, blow up a quarry and cut a car in half.
What were your most memorable moments from filming the series?
We got to go down to a mine in Wales. It was full-on dark, like, so scary. We’d never actually gone that deep down into the Earth. It was cool because we’ve flown in a plane above the ground before and this time we were below the ground. We also met this crazy witch lady who believed in ghosts and was looking for witches.
Which five celebrities would be your dream tour guests on the show?
Ooh, who would we pick, John? Okay… we’d have Frankie from The Saturdays, Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian and Ke$ha.
You’re in competition with each other on the show. How did you feel about that?
It was a really weird experience because usually we’re the ultimate team. Some of the tour guests were really, really serious and wanted to learn all the facts about the places, and sometimes there were awkward silences when they wanted me to answer their questions. Usually John would be there to fill in the gaps.
Who’s the most competitive?
I think John was more competitive, because sometimes I’d be messing around and then realise that John was actually taking it seriously.
Tune in to Jedward’s Big Adventure on CBBC 6-10 February at 4:30pm
