A KID'S WORLD: Stephanie
Stephanie has low vision. When she was ten years old, she went on her Christmas holidays and came back to realise that she could not see properly.
Until the Christmas break, Stephanie had not noticed any problems with her eyesight – the problem developed very quickly.
Last year, Stephanie was given glasses but they did not help. Her family had to pay for her to have her eyes checked, which they struggled to do.
Stephanie has now been provided with a magnifier that she uses to read from her textbooks. Stephanie is a bit slower with her reading. When she has to read from the board, she sits right at the front of the class.
Stephanie says: “I am teased by other students about my eyesight. They call me blind, which upsets me.”
There are millions of children in the world who are missing out on education because they are blind. Sightsavers is working hard to find these children and help them. Learn more at: www.sightsavers.org/kidzone.

That's so sad. I hope the other children stop teasing her and her eyesight gets better.
