Who we are

Who we are

For almost 20 years, First News has been the UK’s leading news brand for children. We provide impartial, age-appropriate journalism that helps young people understand the world around them. In a time of media bias, AI-generated stories and algorithm-driven feeds, media and information literacy matters more than ever. That’s why we don’t just write the headlines – we teach children to read between them. Through our newspaper, digital content and school resources, we support teachers and parents with the practical tools to build confident, informed global citizens.

We also give children a platform to share their views and take part in national conversations. And with today’s 12-year-olds potentially able to vote at the next general election, these skills matter more than ever.

Trusted by families and schools, we give every child the tools they need to understand news, for life.

What we believe

What we believe

While they might only make up 30% of the world’s population, children are 100% of its future.

First News has never been more important – a trusted source of reliable, unbiased news and information. A place where children can calmly process and make sense of the world away from unregulated platforms that seek to control their minds. Our goal is to inform and inspire the next generation so they are prepared to deal with the complexities of growing up in today’s world.

What we do

We don’t like to brag but…

We are proud to have been named Niche Newspaper of the Year Award (2025, 2023 and 2012), Best National Newspaper at the Plain English Campaign Media Awards (2011) and Best National Weekly Newspaper of the Year (2012).
