Win prizes by telling us what YOU think of 56 Sage Street

By nwilliams

56 Sage Street is a fun new game from Barclays.

A teenager is given one chance to make it in the city.

Two weeks ago a fresh-faced kid arrived in the city with £4 and a headful of dreams. What they found was a tough, uncompromising place and one night a wrong turn took them into trouble. The dream of making it looked like it was over. But someone had seen what had happened. His name is Mr C. the self-made, millionaire owner of the 56 Sage Street Empire. With only weeks to live, he's searching for a successor. If our hero can prove their worth to him, their dream of making it might just become a reality.

How to play

56 Sage Street is a point and click game set in a vast city, where you're free to explore and click on hundreds of destinations. With each click you'll find work, places to stay, new challenges and contacts to help you make it. If you can avoid temptation and make the right decisions, life will get better and you'll move up through the city. If you reach 56 Sage Street you'll have proven yourself to Mr C and he'll give you his empire to run. You'll have made it. Good luck!

Go to the 56 Sage Street game: http://www.56sagestreet.com/?utm_source=FirstNews&utm_medium=unruly&utm_campaign=BAU play it, then come back and write a comment to let us know what you think to be entered into an exciting prize draw!

I think this game is great! I love it when you click on things and it might say so and so needs help going up the stairs or something like that and you can go ok. Sometimes you don't have enough energy so you have to eat and you earn money from helping people! Its great! Helen

Wow, this is a REALLY good game!! The only thing is that I would have liked to have been able to save my progress but because I'm not on Facebook I couldn't :( I think this game is really fun and it gives you motivation to get onto the next stage. 9/10 !! :)

Nic, wasn't there another article like this telling us to play the same game last year on First News? Anyway, I think the game is great! I want to play until i can run the empire!

  • roxiechic (Age 10) wrote on Friday, 10 June 2011 @ 19:06

I really enjoyed this game, it was very good. The graphics were very clear, and I enjoyed trying to get money and somewhere to sleep. It was exciting how you moved onto different streets, and had to find different jobs and things. The tasks were very good, and I especially liked the dictator one, though I couldn't do it! The only thing bad about this game is that there are a few rude words (only a few) and that you have to be on facebook. I mean, my dad took 3 turns before he did the dictator task, and now I have to do it all over again! Overall it was BRILLIANT!

  • polliwog11 (Age 12) wrote on Thursday, 16 June 2011 @ 19:31

i didnt like it as i found it really boring and i couldn't save as i'm not on facebook. it also wouldn't let me go to the next stage. the idea is good trying to get £100 by doing jobs and speaking to friends ect. you can also choose the luxery of the places before you stay there and thta is really interesting. on the whole, i think barkleys could have improved it because it is designed for 11-13/14 years old and you are not alloued to be on facebook untill you are 13. Barkleys could have also made it save on its own website so you dont need facebook.

  • waterpika (Age 16) wrote on Thursday, 16 June 2011 @ 19:31

  • xXBeefyXx (Age 14) wrote on Thursday, 16 June 2011 @ 20:47

yh i agree quite good although irritating without fb... u miss out on boosts and saving without it if ur playing it DO NOT BORROW MONEY FROM PEOPLE IF U DONT RETURN IT ON THE SAME DAY... cz i did that and after 1 day the guy (when i borrowed £100) told me i had to pay him like £500 back!! and in the real world that was like 2 minutes later!! gd game but think you should be able to choose how fast time goes... Beefy xx

  • emmapemma (Age 12) wrote on Thursday, 16 June 2011 @ 21:21

I like the game and whoever thought of the idea was a genius. Sometimes the graphis were a bit dodgy but i think it was probably my computer's fault as everyone else seemed to have no problem. The only bad thing is that, like Evland, I am not on facebook so i could not save my progress so i think the creators should find a way to save the game without facebook but i do think that progress was very clever.

  • Funmix (Age 12) wrote on Friday, 17 June 2011 @ 20:32

It was well planned and clear so you new where all the buttons were. the cartoon pictures are well pixcelated abd it shows you how life can be like and your fiancal parts of peoples lives. I think 7 years old and over should play this game otherwise children below wont understand it and may find it a bit scary because its a night at the start. ( i found it a bit creepy) Also you can find out what actually happens in the outside world and learn some good skills like identifing scam and fraud. I recommended it to my brother because these are the type of games he likes to play on. Overall i loved playing the game and i i'm going to show my friends.

I really enjoyed this game as it shows what life can be like for a teenager or a young adult and the struggles they have to go through. The graphics are really good and the game doesnt freeze as everything is quick and easy. The only bad point is there isnt any help or instructions on the game saying whrat to do when something occurs etc. Overall i thorougly enjoyed this game as it is really enjoyable and i am going to tell all my friends about it and ask them to try.

  • MINKLEMO (Age 13) wrote on Tuesday, 21 June 2011 @ 17:42

I really enjoyed playing this game because not only is it fun it is also educational. I learnt lots about how to understand bank statements. I would really recommend this game to anyone because it is so fun. You also gain a real understanding of how difficult it is for a teenager or young adult to survive alone in a city yet if you work hard you can soon become successful. It is a fantastic game - 5*

I quite liked the game although it is a little dark. I found it easy to get started but quite hard to get very far and then I started to get a little bit bored. I like the idea that the game teaches you how to look after your money and that you cant buy every thing you want, but I am not sure I would want to buy this game.

  • broadpaws (Age 10) wrote on Thursday, 23 June 2011 @ 13:34

I really liked this game, I have found it challenging to get the money, which is great, as lots of similar games are too easy - I love this one and guess what... so does my mum!!

  • wattsit (Age 17) wrote on Thursday, 23 June 2011 @ 15:07

This game is ridiculously addicitve! I started palying it thinking it would be boring but I was hooked within minutes! Unfortunately I do not have access to facebook so I could not save my game or get my "friends" to help so after a while I had to stop the game - no running the epire for me! The money side was good as I found myself really investigating things to see if they were a good deal or not and making sure I put money in the bank. The game is very good but would be better if it didn't rely on facebook and you had to do more of the jobs (like when cooking the food) :D :D

This game was very good- I really enjoyed it and thought it was very addictive! It was great how you started off with four pounds in an estate and ending up with thousands of pounds staying in a posh apartment. however I thought the way that work was always readily available was a bit unrealistic but apart from that it was quite realistic in the way that you had to earn your money and needed a good reputation, nice clothes etc. to get a well-paying job.

  • dancecrazy (Age 15) wrote on Friday, 24 June 2011 @ 22:01

  • Lukozade (Age 13) wrote on Saturday, 25 June 2011 @ 08:59

I thought it was confusing and it was difficult to work out what to do. However, it is a brilliant idea for a game, as it reflects real life situations. I think it could be better if it wasn't just point and click, and it could also have some puzzles in. Although I didn't understand the game, the intro was great! Also, the graphics are very good, with the only problem being that it's set at night, so it can be very dark, but that could be just my computer! Overall, a fantastic idea for a game, but I didn't really understand what to do, and it could be improved in a small variety of ways.

  • evoo (Age 12) wrote on Saturday, 25 June 2011 @ 16:08

  • krog (Age 16) wrote on Sunday, 26 June 2011 @ 12:43

This game is extremely in-depth, and fpr that I commend it. The ranging options allow for each person to play a different game and end up in different situations; no two plays of this game will be the same. Therefore, this game is such a fantastic idea! It also reflects true life situations and shows that anything can happen, even when you only have £4!

  • Rose (Age 12) wrote on Sunday, 26 June 2011 @ 14:12

  • freakyfriz wrote on Sunday, 26 June 2011 @ 18:31

I think this game was very good, the only problem I found with it was the glitch on the E M W Solicitors game.

  • yipster (Age 14) wrote on Monday, 27 June 2011 @ 17:13

I think this game is very good to teach young adults to survive with little money at the very start and build their selves up to becoming a millionaire. It teaches kids like us, how to survive in the real world, with real life situations, and when we grow into young adults through till beings an adult. It shows what you can do with £4! And that anything could happen. That you only need to start off with £4 to even become a millionaire! £1,000,000 ( 6 naughts)! In conclusion, I would totally recommend this game to 11 - 16 year olds. It is a great way to gain real life experience before stepping out into the real world.

  • xxTigzxx (Age 13) wrote on Wednesday, 29 June 2011 @ 17:56

I think this game was showing a real situation of what bullying is like! This is a game where it is trying to make you feel comftable and be safe with yourself! Also I think that most people these days are hanging round the killing games where that will give you bad habits. Who knows what poeple are doing at this right moment... Great game for Children to grow up on!!!! My younger brother found it very interesting!

  • titanicfan (Age 12) wrote on Friday, 1 July 2011 @ 19:38

What a game, its great. Very good layout and you can easily get addicted. I like that you can feel safe when you are playing. Its good to have games that are not army shooting games.

  • ck12111 (Age 15) wrote on Saturday, 2 July 2011 @ 22:08

This game is quite fun as it gives a perspective on life if all you have is little money and a phone.

  • bayview (Age 11) wrote on Sunday, 3 July 2011 @ 16:48

I thought this game was not very good as it was too confusing.

  • bart (Age 11) wrote on Sunday, 3 July 2011 @ 17:19

I enjoyed playing this game. The best bit is trying to invest correctly to make more money. I also liked deciding where to eat and sleep to keep my energy levels up. It was annoying not being able to save the game.

  • ghollis006 (Age 13) wrote on Sunday, 3 July 2011 @ 19:32

56 sage street is an interesting yet challenging game. At first it took me a while to get used to it but I soon adjusted. I think the idea of different jobs getting progressively better is a great idea although one or two of them are a bit stupid in places: leafblowing and you blow a chuihuahua away that's really unrealistic. I also don't like that you can only save if you have a facebook account.

  • Borland99 (Age 12) wrote on Monday, 4 July 2011 @ 10:07

I love this game cos it's very real, and u have to work very hard and make the right decisions.

  • laupeiluj wrote on Monday, 4 July 2011 @ 13:54

Good game, did become quite addictive. But I assume they are trying to get you to make the right choices in life, but to be honest, I actually clicked on a few things on here that I knew were the wrong things to do, just to see what would happen... so I would hope i know the difference between right and wrong already, so this wouldnt really influence my choices really. But saying that overall was a good game.

  • staystrong (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 4 July 2011 @ 14:24

I think this game is really good and teaches children to be streetwise. I think it shows that you can't trust everyone and this game has been added to my favourites, as well as being recomended to my friends. It's a great game and I'll certainly be playing it a lot more!

  • braeckman (Age 10) wrote on Tuesday, 5 July 2011 @ 20:39

Seems a pity that it has to be linked to facebook which I understood you were supposed to be 13 to use but the game goes from 11 or even younger. Its a bit slow but an interesting concept.

  • lauzaroo (Age 16) wrote on Wednesday, 6 July 2011 @ 06:05

Very very addictive, the thought of having an empire at the end is very motivational and i can't seem to stop playing! Very educational game teaching us to be streetwise, and right from wrong though a little too patronising in places. Very realistic to everyday life in aspects such as having to eat and rest to have energy to do things, being with very little money and having to invest wisely to become rich, but then some far fetched things added for humor, quite a good balance really. Overall a very addictive mildly challenging game that teaches you excellent life skills, a great little life taster ready for the real world. I think this game should be allowed to be played in our Citizenship lessons

  • lollipopz3 (Age 14) wrote on Wednesday, 6 July 2011 @ 07:37

This Game is soooooo good! Its great as it is easy to understand. Also, when you click on the money someone will offer you money. For example, one man said i have one £500,000 and i will split it with you if you give me your bank details. This makes you street wise and it helps you learn that if that happened in real life you shouldnt do it. I also like the fact that you can get awards for acheiving things because even if you are not close to completing the game you still feel like you are acheiveing something. The game definatley teaches you to be streetwise which is why its a great game for children as they learn something from playing it. Thanks for making such a great game!!!

I love this game, I'm 13 (birthday today) and started playing earlier on. I can't believe how hooked I became, the time has passed really quickly. I love finding new places and how to make the most of the money that I have. I think it will teach people how to be careful with money, spend it wisely and get by working and existing in general. Excellent game, I'm going to keep going and be a millionaire!

  • demum (Age 11) wrote on Thursday, 7 July 2011 @ 13:40

The game is ok, helping people to earn money and knowing how to spend it to get energy, but it seems more about facebook which at 10 Im not allowed on anyway :(

  • LAURAD (Age 13) wrote on Friday, 8 July 2011 @ 14:42

  • Mouse1999 (Age 13) wrote on Friday, 8 July 2011 @ 21:26

I really enjoyed this game although it is very dark and I think it would appeal to more people if it was a bit brighter during the day. It says you can go back any time to the areas you have already passed through but you have to stay overnight in the area your in which is slightly annoying but doesn't change how fun it is. As it's meant to be lifelike I will mention the fact that in real life a teen of that age would not be legally aloud to work in many of the places or rent a flat. The avatar looks about 11 and is offered a job in a firework factory???? But looking on the bright side this game teaches children about finance and how to handle money in the real world. It encourages people to reach their targets and work towards these goals. Overall I think it is a really great game and there is one thing I have to say to you first news: THANK YOU for introducing me to it. :D

  • gunnie210 (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 11 July 2011 @ 15:06

I really liked this game, it made realise what you could do with a small amount of change but to do some of the extra things (e.g. finding the key) and saving your game, you had to connect to Facebook or Twitter but some people might not have an account and might not want one so that was a bit disappointing. Other than that, it was GREAT!! :)

  • vigogirl (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 11 July 2011 @ 18:43

i found it a great game but to save you had to connect to facebook, but the other parts of the game were very good for instances doing jobs and it will help us children to learn what the world is really like. I found it exreamly addictive and the graphics were almost realistic!i LOVED the game and will recommend it to ALL MY FRIENDS, GREAT GAME !!! luv it (sorry for spelling mistakes):-)

  • mrflister (Age 12) wrote on Monday, 11 July 2011 @ 19:29

It's ok... Good gameplay but I got a bit bored after a while and I don't have facebook so I couldn't save my game. I don't think it was that good.

  • bubblyme (Age 12) wrote on Monday, 11 July 2011 @ 19:54

I love this game and have spent ages on it. It teaches you some very important life skills but the only dissapointment is that you can't save unless you have facebook or twitter meaning that many of the people that have been playing it and many of the people it is aimed at can't come back to their game resulting in many people losing out on learning life skills. There is many good points though and think it is any amazing game.

  • zakary99 (Age 12) wrote on Monday, 11 July 2011 @ 22:46

I didn't mind it. I found it pretty normal, sorta like mafia II, or... just GTA. Quite cool, it's the sort of game I play. I found it hard though, I think it might of been my Laptop that slowed it down, it was still a great game. But I had a few lag spikes on my end. I'm sure to play this again, and I give the Gameplay 8/10, reason is because it is pretty confusing, but still a cool fun game. The creativity of it is awesome. I loved the creativity. It's graphical too, the cars turn round the corner... wow that's graphical. And overall, I'd give it 9/10 because it's an epic game, but it still needs some touching up, but it's cool. :D

  • TT1997 (Age 14) wrote on Wednesday, 13 July 2011 @ 16:01

This was a fun and interesting game that I enjoyed playing and completing. It made me think about money and how to use it, also how to save it. Overall it does achieved the desired effect but it possibly portrays banks in too good a light, as they are just as likely to take your money as scammers or other money wasters you'll find in the actual game. Nice to play about with but don't take it too literally.

This was a Fun Game that challenged you to manage money in a game but also the real world. My overall conclusion is that is a very interesting game as you see the way it achieved the effect of portraying banks possitivly however also portraying banks as scammers that can take money that you'll find in the game.

It is a great reality based game with lots of differant choices to make, and things to do. The game treats you differantly if you do certain things. The onley annoying things are is that you cant chose what you look like or that its sometimes quite restricting. It will take ages for you to get boared of it. Its pretty god but it could be slightly better. 9/10.

I liked the game, but I found it a bit tedious after a while. I spent hours on it, but then I had to come off and I couldn't save it so I lost EVERYTHING that I had done, which was annoying!
