What happened to good old fashioned board games?

When I saw the 'games' catergory I thought we were talking non-computer/tv games!
Alright, I suppose today that the meaning of the word 'game' has understandably changed, but still, I think this is a good a place as any to discuss traditional games.
Some of the Best Games in History
Charades: * * * * This acting game is can be fun, funny, or just plain crazy, but either way its bound to have the whole family joining in. The rules are that you use various symbols to act out the name of a book, film, TV show, or song, without making any form of sound, great fun, but challenging at the same time.
Monopoly: * * * * This great game is very old, and has recently been adapted into many different forms including; Paris Monopoly, Inflatable Monopoly and even design-your-own Monopoly! This game lasts a very long time so you'll need to have at least an hour to play. Me and my family also have fantastic funny arguments over how to pronounce Monopoly!
Chess: * * * * * This game is one of the oldest, and makes an excellent passtime. This game is like, but more intresting than drafts. It can be very addicting once you start, be warned!
Ok, I hope these will help you get started, also, remember, it's earth hour tonight, 8:30 till 9:30, so turn off the wii, xbox and computer and try out some of these!

although i love my pc games and things like that I think there is something about playing trivial pursuit at christmas or scrabble after dinner on a weekend! Play a board game tonight! I will!

I agree what happrned to old fashioned games last year we were playing monopoly or charades now were sitting in front of the tv or computer

Board games are NOT boring,this is a great article because now so many people LIVE for their computer,WII,DS and TV.I suppose I do as well!:D

Lots of people say they don't like board games. I have loads that i've never had the time to play, but thanks iwilrockon, because now, I'm going to make sure I definitely play them. But what's not to like about charades or pictionary?

I like MODERN board games! Chess is sooooo boring! Monopoly is ok I guess but it takes to long. I like Connect 4 and Frustration. :) I Love my phone, laptop, tv and Ipod.

I also agree we have a cupboard full of board games and there great.Pc games are also great but I would rather be playing with the actual person in the same room than on multilayer and meeting the person from through a pc why were they invented?

Our family play board games and card games every so often and we have a lot of fun! I am rubbish at chess but my dad was like a champion when he was at school, all those years ago!!!!!
