The Iron Man by Ted Hughes

I have been reading the Iron Man by Ted Hughes. I would recommend older children aged 7 years and upwards read this book because it is a bit eerie.
We first meet the iron man when he falls off a cliff and things don't get any better for him... ! He does manage to put himself back together although he soon makes the farmers angry by eating their tractors! Yummy for the Iron Man, bad news for the farmers! They set a trap but it was Hogarth (a farmers son who first saw him) who caught him. This is upsetting as he is just misunderstood.
Having been buried he springs up the next year in summer spoiling a picnic! This is my favourite part as it is exciting and took me by surprise (I thought he was going to have an underground adventure).
It was all highlights for me, five stars!
