One Piece 3DS review and trailer

By ieddy

Life on the ocean waves gets pretty interesting in One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP, the new 3DS game based on the One Piece comics and cartoon.

Taking Captain Monkey D Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates on a search for the valuable One Piece treasure, you and your ship, Thousand Sunny, will come across rival pirates who’ll try to foil your plans.

There’s lots of combat to keep you entertained, including the individual characters’ special attacks from the show. You can play as people like Zoro, Sanji, Robin and Franky, as you take on over 30 bosses that feature in the TV show.

You can also chill out and fish from your boat, or set traps to capture a range of curious-looking beasties.

First News reviewer Aaron says: “The game is mostly in Japanese, so there are subtitles to read, but if you can get past that, you’ve unlocked a treat! The 3D is incredible and really the first game that pushes the 3DS. It’s like there is a window in it! The controls are easy to get used to and the characters are all really cool. However, you are required to do a lot of the same thing again and again and again. It is very repetitive and even then it’s hard to work out what to do. Yet if you can work your way through those annoyances, then you can experience a truly amazing 3D world. 7/10.”
