First News haiku competition

Let's see who can write the best haiku...

They are easy! A haiku is a Japanese poem. It is written a special way. It is a three line poem which has five syllables in the first line, seven syllables in the second line, and five syllables in the last line.

If you need help knowing how many syllables a word has, or you are unsure of what a syllable is, go to this website www.howmanysyllables.com

Haikus are fun because they are very quick to write and can be about anything.

Haikus can be riddles...

Green and speckled legs,
Hop on logs and lily pads
Splash in cool water.

Haikus can be about the seasons...

Spring is in the air
Flowers are blooming sky high
Children are laughing

Haikus can be funny...

Humans are so strange.
Mine lies still in bed, then screams!
My claws aren't that sharp ...

    They are all in bags under my desk - we haven't had any post coming or going because of the snow! Depending on where you live (if it's snowy your deliveries might be stopped...) you should get it by Friday...

    Snowflakes floating gracefully to the snow covered ground, Soft, fluffy snow building on my doorstep as I watch through the Winter days, The slippery icicles hanging from the rooftops are razor sharp teeth of a monstrous beast.
