yoi6: Hello. There are three reasons why it takes a little while for articles to get approved. 1) Every article has to be read to make sure that no-one is posting anything rude, hurtful or dangerous. I also have to take out links to other websites (because we can't control what is being written on those websites) and change the titles, if I have enough time. 2) Because no-one follows the rules (written at the top of the Bored?! section) so it takes a long while to make the articles ready to publish. If someone submits an article written all in capital letters, I have to re-write it. This takes a lot of time. 3) Because we only work during working hours (9-5 on Mondays to Fridays) if you submit an article outside of these times or if a lot of articles have been submitted, then it will take a while before your can be read and approved. If you submit an article and want i up quickly, the best thing to do is read the rules and try your best to follow them.

Hello xfranniex. All poll comments need to be modified (checked to make sure they are ok) before they go live. Because we only work day time hours, your poll comment won't be approved until the next day, unless I come online during the evening. The only other time your poll comment wouldn't be approved is if you wrote something rude or silly. But I know you wouldn't do that. Hope this helps. Nic :)

If you enter loads of competitions, wouldn't it be fair if we were only allowed to win one competition?I know someone who entered two First News competitions, and she won both.

Hi Mirri04. If you think about it, it would be very UNFAIR to have that rule. She might have entered more competitions than everyone else, so therefore had more chance of winning. Competition winners are picked at random, so if you enter you have an equal chance of winning to everyone else who enters. We would have to tell people that they couldn't enter competitions if they had already won, or maybe only enter one competition at a time (in case you won one of them) and that would cut your chances of winning anything. If you want to win a competition the best ones to enter are the ones where you have to make a bit of an effort eg. surveys, the Pritt competition which is about to go live this Friday etc. because not so many people enter them. Or, you could start writing really good articles and you might win Winner of the Week once we start doing that again, because only about 10 people post articles regularly (compared to hundreds who enter comps). Hi Nintate. How are you? Yes, it is really me. Maybe I should put my photo on this page? There is a photo of me and Serena with Wanted, a hot new boyband on page 15 of this week's First News. My main job is the website - I write the articles, put them up, find videos, create polls, answer questions, update the First news Facebook and Twitter accounts and approve articles and comments. Sometimes I write for the paper, if I have time! There are lots of laws about privacy, so we can't post the names of winners. If you want to know who has won each comp you need to send us a self addressed envelope and we will send you the list and all the legal terms and conditions. If you have won a comp we get in touch with you and let you know. Nic :)

We all work really hard on the website, and while sometimes there are a few small glitches, we think it is starting to look really good. we decided to make a new website because the old one was looking a bit tired and boring. We also wanted an easier way for you the readers to be able to talk to us and to contribute. Now you can leave comments, write articles and vote on polls. There is a button at the top of the bored section which says something like 'write article'. You just click it and write your article. please read the rules first to make sure you article gets approved quickly. Hi nisseholly. We get our news stories from a variety of sources - we have the news on the TV all day, we read every paper, we look on the internet and sometimes companies and people send us news stories. I take a pair of scissors to work with me so that I can snip interesting articles out of the newspapers left on the train. If you want to be a journalist you need to read as much as you can and as many different things as possible. I always find it interesting how different newspapers will report the same story in a different way. For example, The Sun will report a story differently to the Times - even though they are both owned by the same company. Why do you think this is? Nic :)

Hi Amie. I am not very well - I have lost my voice! How are you? Before we write each First News article we reads lots and lots of news. We read about 10 newspapers a day, look on the internet and have the news on the TV behind us. We look for stories that are important, interesting or funny, then write them again in a way that is easy to understand. Nic :)

Hi yoi6. Well... we are supposed to have Bank Holidays and weekends off (but not election days!) and we finish work at 5pm. However, some of us came to work on Monday and quite often I will check the website in the evenings and on weekends if I have any free time. Hi coolkid91. There are a few ways we pick a winner - if it is a drawing comp we'll obviously pick the best drawing, but if it is a comp where you have to answer a question, we pick a number at random (eg. if we have 10 entries we'll pick a number between 1 and 10).

Hi Wildgirls. I read so many interesting things in the newspaper we all read about three newspapers each a day and watch the news on TV all day that its hard to choose. I like the animal stories best. I read an interesting story about a reading dog the other day. It is in our news section now. I have been working as a journalist for about four years now. I have worked at different magazines before First News and have been at First news for eight months. First News has been going for about four and a half years. Serena. Nicky, Ian, Kelly and Gabrielle are some of the people who have been here from the start. I have had lots of goods times here I have been to the Ice Hotel in Sweden, Guilfest, The Isle of Wight festival and loads of other cool things. I have met celebrities like The Wanted , Theo Walcott and Tinchy Stryder. It is an amazing job!

Hi Edd12345. Yes, I love my job. I am very lucky that I can do what I love for a living. I get to meet lots of interesting people and work with my friends. I also love reading all your comments and emails. They make me laugh a lot. There are not that many of us working here.. On the newspaper there is x2 writers, an editor, a deputy editor and an assistant. On the website there is just me! We all read about five newspapers everyday and have the news channel on the TV all day. We also use the internet to find news stories. Yes, we have children write in and help and sometimes I have helpers send me news stories or help on the website. Im glad you like the website. I like it too!

Hi star. We will have more games one day but it wont be for a while yet. First News is what is known as a beta site like Farmville. This means that we are changing it and making it better all the time. Many of those changes go on behind the scenes, so you cant see what we are doing, but it is making the website quicker and easier for everyone to use. We are working on some exciting changes right now, and we will be working on games one day, but not for a little while yet. Nic ☺
