Book title: At the Sign of the Sugared Plum Author: Mary Hooper What type of book is it? It is about a girl in Tudor Times, and it is set in London during the Plague. It has a small amount of romance in it, but mostly it is just about the troubles of a girl in London during the Plague. What is it about? A girl who moves to live with her older sister in London - they work in a small sweet shop selling home-made sweet-meats. Then she falls in love with Tom, the lovely apprentice boy to the Pharmacist down the road, and her best friend is teasing her about having a sweet-heart. Everything is perfect, but then the Great Plague comes and everything is ruined... The best bit was... I can't say, because there are 'best bits' all the way through, and some of them would ruin the story. Who would you recommend this for? Any girl (who doesn't particularly have to adore books - it hooks you from the first page) from age 10 to age 15. Have you read any other books by this author? No, but I have ordered the other book in the series. I have heard she has written several other books for teenage girls, too, but these ones set in modern day England (I think). Your rating (1-5 star): 5 star - amazing book! One of my favourites! Read it!!

Book title: Only the Good Spy Young Author: Ally Carter What type of book is it? Fantasy in a way What is it about? It's about a girl named Cammie who goes to a spy school where her mum is a headmistress. With the Circle of Cavan chasing her, Cameron Ann Morgan (Cammie the Chameleon) spends her Christmas holidays with her best friend Bex in London. Rebecca Baxter is the only girl in the whole of the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women who is English. Her extremely good-looking Covert Operations teacher is being hunted down by the CIA, MI6, MI5 and the FBI and Cammie doesn't know why. He's thought to be a traitor but after an incident on the Tower Bridge in London when he tells her to 'follow the pigeons', Cammie doesn't quite believe a spy as good as that to be a traitor. Joe Solomon (the CoveOps teacher) was best friends with Cammie's deceased father and he thinks he knows who killed him... The best bit was... The part when the car carrying Cammie's aunt and Bex's mum and dad drive at 120mph over a ramp that sends them fly over the Gallagher Academy walls into a lake which is very special... Who would you recommend this for? I would recommend this book for 11-17 year girls but it really is a good book so younger readers might also enjoy it!! Have you read any other books by this author? Yes, this is the 4th book in the series but Ally Carter hopes that the 5th book will be out in March 2012 and also hopes that there'll be a sixth book! There is also a book named Heist Society which I am hoping to get!! Your rating (1-5 star): 5 star definitely (and for the whole series so far)!!
